The All Ireland German Shepherd Dog Association was founded, as a break-away Club, in 1977 by Theresa Owens and early members included Betty Furlong, Margaret Furlong, Ray D'Arcy, Harry Murphy, Cyril Stockel, Frank Lynch, Jim Fitzgerald, and Benny Fitzgerald to name a few. At the time of its formation, the Club was 88 members strong. The Club held its first breed Championship Show in 1978 with an entry of 140; the show was judged by Ms. Barbara Lyon, a breed specialist from the U.K. Since the first Championship Show, the Club has appointed a number of S.V. German judges, including Herr. Fenten, Herr. Rommel, Herr. Martin, Herr. Bosl, Herr. Sprenger and Herr Knaul, but to name a few.
